Ball Packaging Europe is pleased to support Beavertown Brewery as they recognize four years of successful craft brew business within the UK marketplace. In recognition of this achievement, Beavertown hosted a celebratory event at their brewery on Feb.13. As a key component to the festivities, the brand invited 30 of its brewing industry friends to host two “guest taps” each of their own fresh brews. Coupled with Beavertown’s own offering of 10 of their exclusive flavors, guests enjoyed a smorgasbord of some of the finest that craft brew has to offer.

Ball Packaging Europe added further voice to the event through attendance by Norman Lett, regulatory affairs/sustainability manager UK, who highlighted the many advantages of the beverage can and, in particular, its compelling story as the sustainable packaging of choice for craft brewers. Metal is a permanent material and therefore infinitely recyclable without loss of quality. This fact was a key talking point for Mr. Lett as he introduced guests to the material loop of the can -  from metal sheet, to formed can to consumed packaged to collected material and back again. “We were excited to join Beavertown as part of their anniversary festivities,” said Lett. “By better educating the public on the environmental credentials of the beverage can, it can only positively contribute to the sustainable development of packaging across the entire sector.”

A custom-made table constructed from crushed Beavertown Gamma Ray Cans was the centerpiece to Mr. Lett’s presence at the event. The table was flanked on one side by a two-meter high tower showcasing the two principal  Beavertown labels - Gamma Ray and Neck Oil - and on the other, an Every Can Counts Can Crusher, the latter allowing for easy association of the Beavertown brand to the mechanics of can collection. “Ball has been a trusted partner of Beavertown’s since Day One,” said Nick Dwyer, creative director at Beavertown Brewery. “It was important to us to have them be a part of our celebratory event and to help spread the word on our love of the can!”

Also supporting the Beavertown event were Ball UK sales manager, Boris Smoje and Simon Gresty, Ball Trading UK general manager who added, “It is a privilege to partner with such a creative, forward-thinking customer. Beavertown has proven from their early success that collaboration with key partners allows both parties to provide expertise in critical areas, as demonstrated through the recent installation of their new can filling line.

The late afternoon event also featured food, live music and provided the brewers a keen opportunity to highlight their specialty brewed birthday beer Double Chinas well as Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde  - an exclusive collaboration with Copenhagen-based brewers To Øl.
