In the field of syringe processing, Bausch+Ströbel, the South German manufacturer of special machines, has been a market leader for years and has set standards in the processing of single-use syringes in nests.
When pharmaceutical products are filled and packaged in large quantities, the containers are usually prepared for aseptic processing using rinsing machines and a sterilizing tunnel. However, for smaller batches e.g. for formulation and development laboratories this procedure is generally uneconomic. For this reason, glass manufacturers have been providing pre-sterilized containers in nests inside tubs for quite some time now.
The SFM 5110 has been specifically designed for this branch of the pharmaceutical industry. This machine processes not only syringes in nests, but also the vials and cartridges that have recently complemented the glass manufacturers' range. All the systems from the major glass manufacturers on the market can be processed. The machine runs at 2 containers per machine cycle and reaches an output of up to 5,100 containers per hour.
The nests containing syringes, vials, or cartridges are loaded into the work area manually by the operator.
All the subsequent work processes are then fully automatic: dosing the product and closing the various types of container with plunger stoppers, lyo stoppers or other closures depending on the application. The containers are positioned precisely in the work area by the integrated centering device.
The machine can be equipped with two dosing systems. In this way the product can be dispensed either by valveless rotary piston pumps or alternatively with peristaltic pumps.

The company grows with the number and size of the orders. From approximately 770 employees ten years ago the staff has increased to 1200 now (1400 worldwide). In Spring 2011 the biggest new building project in over 45 years of company history was started. Under construction at the headquarters in Ilshofen is not only a simple industrial structure, but an architect-designed building. It includes a modern assembly building, a spacious warehouse, meeting rooms for seminars or discussions with customers, offices and a company restaurant seating about 200 employees, guests or participants in training sessions. About 5,000 sq. m. floor space are now available for the final machine assembly.
Since 2012 the Swiss company Wilco, an unparalleled expert for leak testing and quality control technologies, is part of the Bausch+Ströbel-Group. Further manufacturing plants are located in Büchen in North Germany and in Connecticut, USA.
