On May 8, 2022, the third offline event of BeautySourcing's premium suppliers drew to a satisfactory close. Over the three days, the BeautySourcing Marketplace had attracted a large number of professional buyers coming from Germany and beyond. With the help of the O2O business model, these buyers could not only see things but also feel, smell, touch samples and even try them out. They came to find new impulses and inspiration, explore new products and discover new trends. 
 
Admittedly, due to the pandemic, this event could not be comparable to previous editions in terms of size and number of visitors. But this event showed a sign of a basically rapid recovery of the German beauty market. This year, besides big manufacturers, many small-size brands have emerged. Most of them are established by online celebrities and cover a wide range of categories including makeup tools, colored cosmetics, nails, perfume and beauty devices, etc.    
 
During the show, 428 buyers showed their strong interest in 378 samples from BeautySourcing’s 32 partner suppliers. These buyers mainly came from northern, central and southern Europe. Few of them came from Turkey, India and other countries and regions. Looking from the nature of them, 33% of the buyers were local European producers looking for suppliers, 24% were brands and 13% were distributors and agents.  
 
What TRENDS and INNOVATIONS did we identify at the show:
 

Packaging suppliers sourcing trends: new materials and new formats especially with the refillable aspect of beauty, biodegradable packaging material (PLA, Bamboo, Coffee Ground) 
 
It is a truth that today most beauty packaging is still single-use and ultimately goes into landfills. As brands and consumers become increasingly eco-conscious, packaging suppliers pay high attention to the recycling, refillable and even biodegradable possibilities. Thus, clean beauty, natural cosmetics and sustainability became the focus of the event. The event showed that packaging suppliers tried to use recyclable materials and refillable systems to reduce packaging waste. Moreover, PLA, bamboo, and coffee grounds offered a renewable, compostable and biodegradable option for packing cosmetics. The on-site activities reflected that suppliers were scrambling to dabble into these directions to make their packaging more eco-friendly.

Due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, people's demands for self-care treatments at home are rapidly growing. At the event, the home beauty device also became a focus. The manufacturers and brands worldwide sought to present their innovative designs to meet the at-home self-care demands. Their at-home beauty device covered various application scenes, including acne treatment, hair growth or hair removal, cleaning tools, skincare and rejuvenation, among others. For numerous scenes, high technologies hold the key to treatment functions. Advanced technologies including radiofrequency, LED light therapy, laser, galvanic current, vibration therapy, microdermabrasion and microcurrent make it possible for people to enjoy their facial treatments as effectively and safely as they do in salons. This is a whole-new design. As it is made of mono-materials – all its components are made of PP except for TPE spring and LDPE piston - it is eco-friendly and easy to be recycled. Its new elastic element is a highlight. There is no metal spring or pipe inside the pump, greatly reducing the potential contact pollution. 
 
 
Less is more. The fewer plastics we use, the more we contribute to our planet. To simplify the beauty routine and minimize plastic waste, Zhonghui rolls out a replaceable eyeliner cosmetic pen. The whole packaging is designed to be made of eco-friendly materials. So it is easy to be recycled. The replaceable design allows for a new way of consumption. “Through replacement, we aim to reduce the number of new parts and increase the utilization of existing parts. That is how we can minimize the use of plastics”, says R&D Manager. Besides, replacing the inner core is simple. Users just need to open the pen cover and rotate the pen to a clockwise direction, and then they can easily replace. There is no need to worry about liquid leakage during replacement. The double steel ball structure ensures no liquid available before the pen tail is screwed in. 
 
 
Perfumes are no exception when packaging is getting greener across the beauty sector. Aluminum and glass materials are favored options for perfume bottle suppliers. Jinzhicheng launches an 8ml twist-up perfume spray bottle made of both aluminum and glass. The inner glass bottle is wrapped in a layer of aluminum shell. As it is known, both aluminum and glass are 100% recyclable. This design contributes to the eco-friendly program. For Jinzhicheng, it is not enough. These materials are biodegradable without generating any toxic residues. Meanwhile, they also help to reduce carbon emissions. InterCHARM show, one of the largest professional beauty event in Eastern Europe, held twice a year, has come to an end in Russia. During the four days from December 8 to 11 this year, the exhibition covered cosmetic packaging, makeup tools, nail services, personal care, permanent makeup, and aesthetic medicine, etc. It created an exciting opportunity for professional dialogues between manufacturers, distributors, brands and industry experts.

461 companies from China, Turkey, South Korea, Italy, Poland, Germany, and other countries attended the key industry event, as shown by organizers’ information disclosure. During the event, strict epidemic prevention requirement was just like an filter, screening out many non-professional audience. Most of the remaining were high-quality buyers.

This edition, BeautySourcing joined together with 21 premium Chinese manufacturers to display 234 pieces of samples onsite. The offline samples on show were synchronously displayed on BeautySourcing’s online platform, together with other products from the same supplier shown online, totaled more than 400 pieces from 21 suppliers. Such online and offline show forms reinforced each other, and were well received by buyers. They could browse all products on the online exhibition page at www.beautysourcing.com and then feel and touch the samples in person to know about the quality.   

Only in four days, BeautySourcing’s pavilion welcomed the arrivals of 350 buyers. The daily online webpage views exceeded 10,000 times. Aluminum packaging became a “dark horse”. In recent years, aluminum containers become popular as they are much more lightweight, can keep inner formula fresh over time, allow for in-line printing, help create a variety of shapes, and be fully recyclable. During the event, buyers’ demand for aluminum packaging greatly exceeded our expectations.

In addition, we found home care products were another hot trend during the pandemic. Buyers showed great interests in the small household beauty devices brought by BeautySourcing.
