Berry Global proudly accepted two gold awards from the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) in its 67th Annual Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Competition. Berry won awards for Packaging Excellence and Sustainability for its Entour™ recyclable polyethylene (PE) film solution for fresh-cut produce applications.
“Customers continue to increase their demand for sustainable packaging solutions. Through innovations like this new Entour fresh produce structure, we demonstrate our ability to deliver an improved end of life story for some of the most challenging flexible packaging applications,” said Caleb Triplett, Director of Product Management for Berry’s Flexible Packaging group. Through our Entour family of films, and innovations like it, we continue to make progress toward our own recyclability goals and those of our customers.”
This featured application often requires strong seals in a cold packaging environment and customized oxygen transmission rates. As a part of the Entour product line, this solution features films that are designed for front-of-store recycling. The package features an Entour Shield™ sealant web that has been engineered to offer high breathability and an Entour Bold™ machine-directed oriented (MDO) PE reverse print web that has been engineered with excellent clarity, gloss, and stiffness. When combined, they can achieve commercial oxygen transmission rate ranges that can replace mixed material biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) laminations. Both films are How2Recycle® pre-qualified as recyclable via store drop-off.
The FPA is the leading advocate and voice for the growing U.S. flexible packaging industry. The longstanding awards showcase the industry's innovation and the advances that have changed packaging. All entries are judged by an independent panel of experts.
