Bischof + Klein has won the German Packaging Award 2019. Company representatives from Lengerich and the Bavarian plant in Konzell received the award in the category of sustainability at the FachPack packaging trade fair in Nuremberg.
"This confirms our high innovativeness and reinforces our commitment to increased sustainability", stated CEO Dr. Tobias Lührig. Significantly less new plastic is required to produce the award-winning wicketed bag. The jury's conclusion: "This is a good example of sustainability in action!"
Wicketed bags are typically used as collective packaging for toilet paper. Bischof + Klein alone sells over 300 million units of this each year. Material savings by reducing thickness and the use of regranulate are important measures for designing this standard packaging sustainably and safeguarding resources. In the B+K Twister Plus®, the recycled polyethylene granules are embedded in a specially produced film in the inner layer. A recyclate content of 30 % is therefore achieved in the overall design without any restrictions on the functionality of the packaging.
Another important sustainability aspect: the packaging is almost 100 percent recyclable.
