With the introduction of the 5p bag charge recently, it’s got us all thinking about bringing our ‘bag for life’ with us when we shop and being a bit more environmentally conscious.
Even if you haven’t had to introduce the charge, it’s almost certainly made you consider what you could do to try and be ‘greener’.
You might be interested to know that at B Smith Packaging, we’ve been thinking about how we can be ‘greener’ too and have introduced something unique and different into our creation of carrier bags. One of our customers English Heritage approached us with their need for a degradable plastic bag. So we’re now producing carrier bags made from recycled plastic drinks bottles! Sounds far-fetched? Actually the process is really simple.
Once plastic bottles are finished with and thrown in the recycling bin, we remove their labels and caps, clean them thoroughly and grind them into pellets to make the carriers we all know so well.
If you or your customers are environmentally conscious, using these ultra-green carrier bags could make your business really stand out. These bags can not only be recycled, but if they do end up in a landfill, they’ll degrade to a fine powder as we’ve added a substance called Epi to the pellets when we make them.
These bags are truly different and they look great too. We can make them into different sizes and shapes for you and put your logo and design onto the front of them, making them really fit and work for your business.
