PERPETUA ALTA approved by RecyClass

We have received the Approval Letter from RecyClass for our PERPETUA ALTA packaging solution – which makes it fully compatible with the colored flexible polypropylene recycling stream. It is the first mono-PP laminate ever to get the institution’s approval. PERPETUA ALTA is our first recycle-ready mono-material pharma packaging solution with high chemical resistance for aggressive filling goods.

The polypropylene (PP) laminate combines the mono-material “Design for Recycling” guidelines with an extraordinary resistance against chemically aggressive products such as pharmaceutical liquid and gel compositions.

An independent laboratory tested our PP film technology under the RecyClass Recyclability Evaluation Protocol for PP films. A slightly printed version of the laminate was used to reflect a worst-case scenario during the sorting evaluation. Results show that the metalized aspect of the film does not prevent the sorting of the final packs made out of the film, which are correctly sorted within the PP recycling stream.

The tests demonstrate that PERPETUA ALTA conforms with the guidelines established for the European flexible PP recycling steam, provided its composition follows specific requirements in relation to the type and amount of laminating adhesive, barrier additives, and inks.

This compatibility of our innovative technology with recycling streams contributes towards an improved circularity of plastic films used in packaging.
