The tomato story
The tomato has long been to Ellerhold what Big Ben is to London, the Eiffel Tower is to Paris or Empire State Building is to New York. Outdoor advertising insiders immediately associate the catchy logo with the innovative and dynamic German printing company.
Few, however, know how the tomato came to symbolise Ellerhold.
When asked how he found out about the company, one customer answered in short: “Well, you’re the company with the tomato!” In the old ads, the glowing red tomato was always to be seen as a symbol for bright, colourful silk-screen posters. And the tomato
logo was thus born.
In 1998 the logo was refreshed. The tomato was made bolder, more dynamic, like Ellerhold itself.
