Aerosols may be packaged in Bag-on-Valve since 1997 at Elysée Cosmétiques. This modern technology can be used in many cosmetic products. Not only is it convenient and user friendly, but it can be sprayed evenly at all angles and has up to 99% product emptying.
How does Bag-on-Valve Work?
BoV consists of an aerosol valve with a welded bag. The product (cream, gel or other) is placed inside the bag while the propellant (compressed air/nitrogen) is filled in the space between bag and can. The product is dispensed by the propellant simply squeezing the bag when the spray button is pressed. The product, squeezed out of the bag, is dispensing as a spray, cream or gel. Therefore, it keeps its integrity, remaining separated from the propellant at all times.
Safety and environmental benefits of BoV aerosols:
- No need for flammable propellants
- Hygienic and sterilisable
- Used with eco-friendly air or nitrogen
- Less need for preservatives (product 100% protected from oxygen contact means longer shelf-life)
Consumer benefits of BoV aerosols/User friendliness:
- Up to 100% product emptying
- Less preservatives with a longer shelf life
- Continuous and controlled spraying pattern for optimal result
- No pumping motion needed
- Can be used at all angles
- Reduced spray noise
Other benefits of BoV:
- Longer shelf life for oxygen-sensitive products
- Suitable for both liquid and viscous products
- Can be used with standard actuators and aerosol cans
The filling of BoV products stays a key challenge for the customers of Elysée Cosmétiques. This process, divided into five key steps, is performed as follows: first of all, it is necessary to placing the valve and the bag inside the can (step 1). Then, comes the crimping and under cup or through the valve gassing. Third, we must control the pressure of the cans to offer only products that meet the highest quality standards (step 3). Then, thee product can be filled in the bag before controlling the weight of the can (step 4). Finally, the actuator and the cap are placed on the can (step 5).
Our experience of Bag-on-Valve packaging has enabled us to develop innovative products. We can realize your BoV formulas development in all fields of cosmetic hygiene.
