FS Korea, the cutting edge designer and manufacturer of innovative and useful packaging products, headquartered in Seoul, has released a new line of cosmetic packaging products, all of which feature bodies or elements made of WPC (Wood/Plastic Composites).
The new material offers a variety of advantages to both the consumer and the planet:
- Recyclable - after use, the packaging can be collected and recycled through the normal melting and reforming process.
- Biodegradability - Portions of the material that can be recycled (i.e. the bonding polymers), are easily separated from the wood fibres, which easily biodegrade.
- Less trees used - New trees aren’t cut in order to produce the material. The wood fibres are gathered from sawmill and wood-processing centre waste.
- Flexibility - Depending on the wood/plastic mix, WPC components can be moulded into just about any shape imaginable, and usable in just about any application.
- Natural - WPC packaging, featuring a lovely, natural wood-grain look, is easy to distinguish on shelves and provides an easy marketing vehicle for companies wishing to market “green” or “natural” products.
- Inexpensive - WPC is actually cheaper than wood, so the packaging components produced from it reflect lower costs.
In general, the new products featuring the new material provide an excellent way for consumers to enjoy an eco-sensitive alternative to full-blown plastic or metal components.
