Rarely does a truly innovative product come along that actually surprises an entire industry. That's pretty much what's happened with FSKorea's new pressed powder grinding container. The design is one of the first on the market to offer a viable means of dispensing pressed powder easily, quickly and sparingly, without having to twist, flip, or scrape anything.
First, there was the loose powder container, normally complete with a reservoir, a sieve-like screen, and a top. The problem was that in order to apply the powder, it would have to be flipped over or shaken to get the powder to pass through the screen's holes into the application tray, which invariably led to either a small powder cloud coming out of the container when it was opened or the powder itself seeping out through the screw top, smudging the container and making it look sloppy.
Next, someone came up with the idea of compressing powders into to create pressed powder, a block of make-up as dense as shale that had to be rubbed with an applicator sponge or pad. While loose powder was easy to apply and gave a nice, even look, it was difficult to carry around because ti was so messy. Pressed powder gained force because it was portable. The price for convenience, however, was added difficulty with regard to application. Agents had to be included in formulae to make the pressed powder soft enough to apply, which led to problems for people with more sensitive skin. Also, the thick powder tended to smear on the skin - it would cake and lay on too thick, getting into pores and crannies, whereas powder normally stayed on the surface.
It was then that FSKorea came up with a viable solution - why not create a device that could house clean pressed powder and shave off only a bit whenever the consumer needed it? This was the original idea for the "grinding compact", which FSKorea successfully launched and currently sells. The only issue with this product is that it requires twisting the grinding mill in order to shave a bit of product off, which proves uncomfortable to a small number of consumers.
The Korean company has surpassed itself and has introduced what they term a "4th Generation Powder Dispenser", which combines the best assets of all its predecessors in one clean, elegant, and effortless solution.
The new container includes a reservoir for pressed powder, which can be incredibly dense as it is shaved off upon use. The new grinder features a simple push-top mechanism. Rather than have to twist the container to grind the top of the powder block and produce a fine powder, the consumer simply has to push down with a pad to have the entire top portion simultaneously lower and swivel, which releases a small dose that's perfect for applying on the spot. It's great for morning make-up application as well as spot treatments, and it can be carried around without fear of having a bag accidentally filled with powder.
