    General Mills

Making food with passion for 150 years

We launched Gold Medal flour back around the time we began in the United States, with flour mills on the banks of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    It was 1866.

These days, Gold Medal is still the No. 1 selling branded flour in the U.S.

We are 150 years old. As you can see, we keep going strong.

Our food is marketed in more than 100 countries on six continents. About half of our 42,000 employees work outside the U.S., where our corporate offices are located.

You've heard of our brands. Cheerios cereal. Betty Crocker dessert mixes and Pillsbury refrigerated dough. That's just a few.

    A top 20 company

In the 2016 Harris Poll Reputation Quotient Summary, which surveyed 23,000 people in the U.S., General Mills ranked among the top 20 companies.

Our 16th-place showing was based on corporate reputation across six areas: emotional appeal, financial performance, products and services, social responsibility, vision and leadership, plus workplace enviroment.

We have taken very visible positions in sustainability and corporate social responsibility commitments, as well as publicized strong wellness innovations across our portfolio including reducing sodium levels in our food.
