Packaging Consultants
Our papers are regularly used for packaging by some of the world’s most exclusive beauty, fashion and cosmetics brands. The result is that we’ve gathered a huge amount of experience in this very precise and image-conscious sector and our amassed knowledge is now at your disposal. You’re welcome to browse our extensive library of packaging samples to discover what is possible (and see that nothing is impossible). We’ll also be happy to take your emerging three-dimensional concepts and bring them to life on our CAD system.

G . F Smith offers paper products, special makes and highly bespoke services tailored specifically to the needs of the creative industries. Our specialist team works to a level of craft and customisation and degrees of flexibility that are almost impossible to replicate. The range of additional services we offer exists because of long relationships with and understanding of the needs of working designers. From the preparation of exquisitely hand-made dummies and samples to the adaptation of paper for optimised digital printing, the work of our skilled staff matches the exceptional standard of our papers.
Bespoke makings offer designers the opportunity to create a superb quality of paper in a unique colour. Working with our Paper Consultants, we can help you produce paper in a unique colour, size, and in any weight. We’ll run colour match tests in the laboratory so you can check everything before the final production run.
Paper is a very malleable material that lends itself to an embossed finish across our entire Collection. As a result we’re able to offer a great variety of surface textures and patterns that are embossed into the sheet. There are currently 25 embossed textures for Colorplan on weights from 135gsm up to 700gsm, and other papers in our Collection can be embossed too. To add to the effect, some papers can have a double-sided emboss, created using machinery that has been retained and maintained by G . F Smith since 1930.
Since the first days of digital printing, we’ve experimented and tested the process of adding digital coatings to our stocks, ensuring that our coloured, textured, metallic, FSC accredited and recycled papers are suitable for new printing technologies. The result is that we already guarantee the majority of our ranges for HP Indigo, Xerox iGen, Kodak Nexpress, Colour Laser and Inkjet technologies. Some of our uncoated papers, including Colorplan, are already naturally compatible with digital printing. Others are easily adapted with an aqueous coating applied by our own dedicated presses to ensure the paper performs to the highest standards during the digital printing process.
