Gruppo ASA: The FIRST San Marino company with certified financial statements

The San Marino company owned by the Amati family, which since 1961 has been producing metal packaging for the food and chemical industry and having now four plants in Italy, one in Switzerland and one in the UK - has just published its first consolidated financial statements.

Emilio Amati, Chairman of the Group, said: ‘Drawing up consolidated financial statements was essential in order to better understand the company. Its important growth following the takeover of competitors and significant strategic investments – with a consolidated turnover of 107 million euros in 2016 – together with the complete redistribution of productive processes among the various plants, did not permit to obtain a global vision of the company activity, which, instead, could be achieved through the consolidation of the data of all Group industries.’

Amati goes on highlighting some important strategic aspects and some results achieved in 2015: ‘Last year, with my personal satisfaction, a new motivated and compact Board of Directors started to supervise and lead the work of the Group’s Executive Board. We took over 100% of a company in the UK, which represents our third market in terms of turnover. Therefore, right there we needed to further consolidate our presence. Finally, we continued with a lively policy of investments aiming at increasing margins and implementing production lines’.

Gruppo ASA wanted to obtain the certification of its consolidated financial statements and PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the biggest auditing, legal and tax consultancy companies worldwide, was entrusted with this task. The auditing was performed in compliance with the international parameters adopted by the European Union, which establish the compliance with ethic principles and the collection of evidence to support the amounts and information entered in the financial statements.

Guido Cicognani, CFO of the company, said: ‘Our Group is becoming more and more internationally oriented. We want our company to convey the image of a solid group complying with European standards. Therefore, the company submitted its consolidated financial statements to auditing and obtained the relevant certification in order to further highlight its reliability with third parties, although no statutory requirement had to be met. It is a prestigious acknowledgement for ASA since we are the first San Marino company which has achieved this goal.’
