Fira Barcelona's Hispack trade fair pays tribute to the Spanish packaging industry, which has proved to be an essential and indispensable industry for the world to continue to function during this health emergency. With the hashtag #LaFuerzadelPackaging, Hispack is launching a campaign in social networks that highlights the value of the contributions of the packaging industry, as well as the effort and work of companies and professionals in this industry the deal with the pandemic. At the same time, Hispack advocates and forecasts that packaging will be a strategic industry when it comes to relaunching the economic activity of all the productive and commercial industries in the new normal that will emerge after this crisis.
In order to act as a lobby for the powerful Spanish packaging ecosystem and add voices to the campaign, Hispack has collected the opinions of different sectoral spokespersons. They highlight the key benefits of the packaging industry in this exceptional situation, as well as the industry's constant innovation to continue to guarantee maximum protection and security in the manufacture and distribution of products. The challenge of sustainability that marks the new developments in machinery, materials, processes, logistics, labels and packaging it is not also forgetting.
According to Hispack president, Jordi Bernabeu, "Issues such as product security, information and traceability are more important today than ever before. Behind it is the packaging and labelling industry, whose innovation, companies and professionals will be decisive in helping other industries to create value in the post-COVID-19 stage."
In this sense, the sectoral spokespersons coincide in pointing out that packaging has recovered its real raison d'être: to protect what matters and to bring products and services closer to people, guaranteeing safety and hygiene, aspects of relevance to face this crisis. Some of the entities that have contributed their vision on the strength demonstrated by packaging are Graphispack Association, Amec-Envasgraf, AECOC, Centro Español de Plásticos, AFCO, Aimplas, Packaging Cluster, Cluster de Innovación en Envase y Embalaje, ITENE, PACKNET - Spanish Technological Platform of Packaging, and IQS Executive Education. At the same time, Hispack wants to visualize how the Spanish packaging industry has come together, also showing its commitment and solidarity with various initiatives to face this extraordinary situation: from donations of material to the manufacture of sanitary protection elements.
Finally, Hispack reminds that after this forced and necessary slowdown in economic and commercial activity to face the pandemic, the world has to resume the pace with renewed energy and, surely, in a different way. Hispack believes that, then, the packaging industry - formed in Spain by over 2,100 companies that employ 74,000 workers - will continue to be decisive and strategic in helping other sectors to create economic value.
Hispack plans to hold its next edition from 24-27 May, 2022 at Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue.
