New label innovation heats up demand in food sector

  • Intelligent Packaging Solutions

Award winning packaging company, IPS (Intelligent Packaging Solutions), has launched a new label innovation that is set to attract interest from supermarkets and food manufacturers.
Thanks to its unique design that provides protection against hot products and offers greater convenience for consumers.

Due to the hectic lifestyles across all age groups, flexible packaging solutions that are designed for ‘on-the-go’ consumption are growing in popularity for time pressed consumers. When food and beverage manufacturers consider the ‘right’ packaging for their product, packaging innovation and design plays a key role in determining the success of it. IPS, a leading packaging solutions company, has developed a thermal label for hot fill and microwavable ‘products which would reduce the amount of packaging and meet the demands from consumers for eating and drinking on-the-go.

A new innovation to launch in the UK, the insulated label packs are simply applied to the pot and acts as an insulator allowing consumers to pick up the hot pack without burning their fingers. This is the first time that an insulated label pack has been suitable for the UK’s food & beverage market and the company has already started to attract interest from food manufacturers.

The label can be printed, providing excellent print quality and brand identification and it is perfectly suited to lightweight pots, allowing manufacturers to save costs and meet growing environmental demands through providing a lighter weight packaging alternative and reducing the need for additional packaging.

Gerard Connolly, Sales and Marketing Manager at IPS, said:

“This is the first time that insulated labels have been used for food or drink packaging. The insulated labelled pack is the perfect solution for ready to eat products; it can be consumed in its original packaging, offering the convenience that consumers want. I foresee it being used in a number of markets, such as hot drinks, portions of porridge and pot noodle snacks. We are proud to be a leader in packaging solutions and will continue to develop innovative and intelligent solutions that meet both the consumers and retailer’s needs.”
