Lactalis Group has signed an agreement for the purchase of Stonyfield Farms, a U.S. subsidiary of the Danone Group. Stonyfield is the U.S. market leader in organic yogurt with brands such as Stonyfield, Brown Cow and Grassfed.

Stonyfield’s turnover in 2016 was ap proximately US$370 million. The company sells 100,000T of product annually, the majority of which is produced at its facility in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

“As the leader in organic dairy in France for over 20 years, the acquisition strengthens our Group’s position in this rapidly growing category,” stated Emmanuel Besnier, President of Lactalis Group.

The transaction is conditioned upon approval by the U.S Department of Justice, and is expected to conclude in the third quarter
