From Mecaplastic to Mecapack
The unique concepts we have developed in-house and the partnerships we have established, explain much of the growth we have enjoyed so far. Here are a few of the milestones from this success story.
The early years
- 1947 : The original precision-engineering workshop was inaugurated.
- 1955 : The first injection moulds and purpose-engineered machines emerged from that workshop.
- 1959 : ECM (Etudes et Constructions Mécaniques) was established in Paris. Later branched out into pill-blister heat-forming, heat-sealing and cutting machinery.
- 1967 : ECM introduced the first thermoforming packaging and food vacuum-packing machine.
- 1969 : Mecaplastic SA was founded to handle the sales and after-sales side of the business.
Diversification
- 1982 : The introduction of the Meca 500, the first modified-atmosphere tray sealer.
- 1990 : Construction of a new plant to design and build form, fill and seal machines in Vendée.
Expansion
- 1998 : Opening of a new production plant outside Paris.
- 2001 : Purchase of a controlling stake in ELTON, a leading Spanish thermoforming-machinery manufacturer.
- 2000-2005 : Continuing extension of the MECAPLASTIC plant in Vendée.
- 2002 : The first all-stainless steel thermoforming machines rolled off production lines. The PROPLAST Group bought a stake in MECAPLASTIC.
- 2003 : Introduction of the S 6000 high-speed tray sealer.
- 2004 : Formation of MECAPLASTIC UK to sell and service MECAPLASTIC machinery in the United Kingdom.
- 2005 : Design and introduction of a new tooling system to enhance form-fill-and-seal machinery operator convenience and to boost efficiency.
- 2006 : New headquarters in Pouzauges, Vendée. ELTON was renamed MECAPLASTIC IBERICA. The plant relocated to Banyeres del Penedes (near Barcelona).
- 2007 : Inauguration of the new research and development centre in Pouzauges.
- 2009 : Mecaplastic purchases Création Technique, manufacturer of packing end of lines, best known as Multibox.
- 2010 : Mecaplastic becomes Mecapack
- 2011: Idpack becomes a trademark of Mecapack
- 2013: Mecapack extends Pouzauges factory area and invests in new manufacturing tools.
