The Case for To-Go Beers & Cocktails Just Got Stronger

From getting groceries delivered to grabbing alcohol to-go, research shows that consumer habits formed during the pandemic are here to stay.

Of the drinkers that started purchasing alcohol direct from the producer during the pandemic, 76% said they plan to continue to do so, according to a July 2022 study from Danelle Kosmal, FP of Research for The State of the Beer Industry.

And over 60% of recently surveyed drinkers say they’re going out less to bars and restaurants because of inflation, according to the study. But consumers will expect to continue to be able to get their drinks to-go, no matter whether they’re buying from the grocery store or direct from the producer.

With the rising costs and lower spending, the option to take drinks to-go has had a major influence on where consumers do choose to spend their money. Research shows that consumers are going out less, and entertaining at home more. O-I’s Drinktainer lets them take the experience of the bar home, and without compromising taste or aroma.

The Drinktainer is the perfect to-go solution for any brewpub, restaurant or taproom – it’s about as close to bar glassware as a to-go container gets. The single-serve, wide-mouth opening allows customers to take beers and cocktails to-go and enjoy them later as if they were straight from the tap.

Some restaurants, like Oscar’s Brewing Company in Temecula, California, are launching Drinktainer soon, and will be broadening their to-go offerings not just in the restaurant, but at events like beer pairing dinners..

With the right tools, to-go programs are possible for any brewery or restaurant – and beer and cocktail lovers will raise a glass to that.
