What are the Pentawards?

Created in 2007, the Pentawards is the first and most prestigious worldwide competition, devoted exclusively to packaging design in all of its forms. Each year, packaging from around the world is judged by an international jury of 12 highly respected designers, packaging design directors and marketing chiefs from major global brands.

For the 2017 awards, there were 2,013 entries from 5 continents and 54 countries.

What is the Pentawards Exhibit, and what industries will be represented?

The Pentawards Exhibit is a new initiative for 2017! It will feature some of the 2017 finalists, seen here for the first time, across five main categories – body, beverage, food, Luxury and other markets. Packaging affects the senses!

It’s official, when it comes to packaging, we have lost our senses. New research suggests that our sense of taste, smell and even feel is directly affected by the packaging a product comes in. In a unique trial, otherwise identical products were rated 35% better overall, simply due to the packaging they were associated with. For instance, perfume was thought to smell 60% nicer and wine tasted 53% better and consumers thought a t-shirt felt 10% more superior, simply if it came in a higher quality pack. The impact of the packaging over senses was so high that people were prepared to pay, on average, nearly three times the price for identical products.
