New void fill system generates rapid sales

  • Sealed Air

Demand for faster and more efficient packaging is driving sales of Sealed Air’s new void fill system, Rapid Fill® Automation. Sales are already 200 % ahead of forecast, with ten major international contracts secured.

Launched in Europe in May 2009, RapidFill® Automation is the lightest void-fill bag available on the market, using sensory technology to ensure that the filler measures the exact amount of air needed for the container in order to maximize results and cut costs. RapidFill® Automation can generate significant savings on shipping, handling and storage, as well as general operational time and boasts the ability to process lighter packages at a high frequency of up to 10 boxes per minute.

Sealed Air is experiencing high levels of demand from major communications and cosmetics companies, as well as a number of educational equipment suppliers and internet-based sales sites to install the new high speed packaging system.

Andy Robinson of Sealed Air commented: "The system has proven so successful with our customers because it is unique to the market. It is the only void detection and post-inflation-void fill product available. In the current climate, companies are demanding more for less, and time-efficient products such as the RapidFill® Automation system have become invaluable to the cost cutting, while maintaining performance levels. "

RapidFill® Automation is quick and simple to use, requiring only one operator to clip the bag in to the inside of the carton, fold the container flaps and send it through the case sealer. When traveling briefly through the sealer, air is automatically injected through the container and into the bag. Rapid Fill® air bags have a one-way valve that allows air in but not out.

Rapid Fill® Automation air bags available in six different sizes, ranging from 380mm x 280mm to 890mm x 635mm to meet a wide range of void-fill needs.
