In June, Brazilian company Vigor, part of the JBS Group, brought into operation its new dairy plant in Barra do Piraí (Rio de Janeiro), one of the most state-of-the-art dairy plants in Latin America. With a total 40.5 million US dollars investment, Vigor has made it possible to process one million litres of milk per day into yoghurt, UHT milk products and products for the food service industry, on site at its new facility. For the equipment of the new plant, Vigor also chose a CFA 812 filling machine from SIG Combibloc, to fill UHT milk, cooking cream and a range of cream products in combiblocMidi 1,000 ml aseptic carton packs.
Paulo Botelho, Industrial Manager of Vigor: “The packaging solutions from SIG Combibloc offer precisely the high level of technology and automation for which we strive, and which we require particularly for the equipment of our new plant”.
With the CFA 812, combibloc and combifit carton packs can be filled. And the machine can do this in several different volumes and with any decor required. In addition, the filling flexibility of the machine makes it possible to fill a broad range of different products – including products with varying consistency and viscosity. The machine is already in full operation and produces with a capacity utilisation rate of 95 per cent.
Sebastião Batista Neto, Project Manager at SIG Combibloc Brazil: “In close cooperation between the technical department of Vigor and ours, we’ve managed to develop a compact line configuration that also makes maintenance and servicing easy. The reliable, energy-efficient filling machine with low wastage rates fully meet Vigor’s demanding standards in terms of sustainability”.
With the addition of the new plant in Rio de Janeiro state, Vigor now operates 16 production plants in Brazil and is pursuing the strategic goal of doubling its production capacity and its sales. A total of 130 new jobs have been created at the new plant. With the further expansion of the production capacity, this could lead to a total of 300 jobs within the next years.
