Aiming to leave a more livable world for future generations in line with sustainability principles, Şişecam Glass Packaging came together with children as part of the 'Glass and Glass Again' project to raise awareness about glass recycling.

Young visitors of Istanbul Children and Youth Art Biennial organized with the "Wake up call: Good Morning" theme this year created their own 'Glass Saving Heroes' at the Recycling Workshops of Şişecam Glass Packaging.

Şişecam Glass Packaging, Turkey's leader and the world's fourth largest container glass manufacturer, highlighted sustainability with the 'Glass and Glass Again' project carried out during Istanbul Children and Youth Art Biennial with the aim of raising awareness about recycling while bringing out the creativity in children.

Şişecam Glass Packaging hosted Glass Recycling Workshops as part of the Glass and Glass and Glass Again Project during Istanbul Children and Youth Art Biennial, where experienced art instructors helped children to create original works of art with entertaining content.

Throughout the event offered during the biennial, Şişecam Glass Packaging asked the children that participated in workshops to imagine their own glass recycling heroes. The children transformed their recyclable glass piggy banks into 'Glass Recycling Heroes' using their imaginations, and took a step to the future while turning what they dreamed of into reality.

Glass and Glass Again Project

Turkey's leading container glass manufacturer Şişecam Glass Packaging launched the 'Glass and Glass Again' in 2011 as one of Turkey's most comprehensive sustainability and social responsibility projects based on the fact that glass is the most sustainable packaging material.

Awarded by Turkish Confederation of Employers Associations (TISK) and Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO), this project aims at raising awareness of recycling glass with a view to glass as the best packaging material for the environment and health. The project's ultimate goal is to create behavioral change in the community and transitioning into a recycling community.

The project involves reaching: children through educational activities in kindergartens and elementary schools; all segments of the community with street activities; to civil society organizations via collaboration with ÇEVKO; local administrations with the help of recycling bins and glass waste collection vehicles donated to municipalities; cafes, hotels, and restaurants with glass crushing machines; and private sector with technical and financial support extended to plants that convert container glass waste into reusable glass for production.
