The Hype tube has its background in the co-operation Tectubes (then Norden Tubes) had with Norden Machinery in Kalmar. There was a predecessor, a more oval tube called Jump. Jump was a very early version of the oval tube and completely unique in the market of the time. Jump in itself was a development of a so-called Tube bottle, i.e. a sleeve which had a separate bottom welded on, and a top, with the opening and the cap, which was also welded to the sleeve.
However, there were drawbacks; it was not possible to fill using the normal tube filling machines. It more or less needed a manual feeding option; the alternative of robotic handling was not nearly as widespread then. In addition our development team realised early on the need for a package that required less material than traditional tubes.
A great deal of effort was put into the development of a hybrid, tube – tube and bottle – and the result was extremely successful; Hype!
Hype combines low material consumption, where an extra tube shoulder under the cap is not required, with excellent emptying properties. It works in most standard tube filling machines and it provides greater opportunities for decoration as a broader front side for display is created.
