Under the rule of the Water-Tiger, an animal that scares away bad luck, this year on February 1st, we celebrate one of the most well-known traditions around the world in the Chinese community. VIROSPACK ASIA is excited to be a part of the festivities for The Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, for the first time.
The Chinese calendar, unlike the one followed in the West, is governed by lunar cycles. Although it is also 12 months long, it begins with the first new moon of the first lunar month, and therefore its date varies every year. 2022 begins February 1st, and the next new year will begin on January 23, 2023.
It is estimated that the Chinese New Year is celebrated in a quarter of the world, not only in China but also in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, and more. For more than 4,000 years, it has been a celebration of the legend of Buddha, who summoned all the fauna of the earth. The 12 animals present in the legend make up the signs of the zodiac.
Each year, the Chinese New Year is ruled by the dominant animal that will mark our destiny over the coming months. This year, the Water Tiger will rule our lives. As the largest beast according to Chinese tradition,it will protect us from bad luck.
We´re glad to hear it- after a global pandemic, global crises, social disorder, politicians of all kinds, and threats of war... protection for a good 2022 is welcome.
The Water-Tiger symbolizes power, courage, confidence, leadership, and strength.
