The quality of service that is provided by Atlas Packaging is guaranteed to be second to none. We make sure that the customer service that clients receive is as exquisite as the products that we create for them. Having both graphic and structural design teams in-house gives us the competitive edge to provide a cohesive cost effective service that cuts out the middle man.

The Structural Design studio at Atlas is always alive with activity. Our in-house team of designers have years of experience and a deep understanding of industry developments, this allows us to offer specialist structural designs that are at the forefront of evolution in the industry. In-studio machinery has been fitted so that designers can create high quality prototypes to ensure the product is perfect before it goes to full run production in the factory.

Unlike some structural design departments, we look at the industry standard FEFCO Guide as a starting point for creating original structural designs that are tailored perfectly to the needs of the our clients.

The team are happy to start from scratch with a new design, to work with your own CAD data, or to recreate existing designs. So whether you have a clear idea of the final outcome or need some inspiration, our team are on hand to manage all stages of your project.

From printing to cutting and gluing, all stages of manufacture are dealt with on-site in our fully fitted production plant, placing us at the envy of our competitors.

We are proud to boast an array of the industry’s most advanced modern machinery from industry leaders such as EMBA, BOBST and J&L, all of whom are renowned for product reliability and innovation within the industry. Specialist facilities include –

Emba 245 QS Ultima - The world’s most advance corrugated board conversion machine. Since installing this piece of equipment we have seen a 20% improvement in pallet utilisation. For full details about the Emba, read our Blog Post.

Multi-point gluing – We use two types of in-line fold gluers that give us the ability to glue an array of board sizes in varying levels of structural complexity. The versatile BOBST gluer can accept a feed of 1400m, whilst smaller feed sizes are glued using the specialised J&L machine.

Die-Cutting – Our BOBST flatbed die-cutting facilities are exceptionally reliable and ensure the finest quality of outcome. The efficiency of this process has allowed us to cut costs, reduce processes and thereby increase plant productivity.

Efficiency is Key

We are constantly striving to improve the efficiency of our manufacturing processes here at Atlas and our recent investment in facilities reflects this. We aim to ensure that our systems are as cost effective, environmentally friendly and time effective as possible. Furthermore, all of our machines have duplicates so that we can guarantee that projects aren’t delayed in the event of a mechanical breakdown.

We separate large and small scale projects between our main plant and our smaller ‘Box Shop’ production facility. This is so that we are able to dedicate the same care and attention to all sized jobs.

Doing our bit for the Environment

We like to keep waste to a minimum but we’re never going to eliminate it completely, and because we’re so passionate about reducing our impact on the environment, we have built an industrial scale recycling system underneath the production plant. This closed loop system captures waste board and efficiently packs it into tightly pressed card bails which are recycled for reuse.

The Graphics Team

Our 6 strong design team play an essential role in making Atlas’s process so unique - You won’t find many packaging companies with such a large in-house creative team! Our designers are always bursting with brilliant ideas and furthermore have the technical skill to bring them to life. Whether you require your existing artwork to be rendered, or need them to consult and inspire from a raw brief, our creative bunch will ensure that inventive ideas are realised with superfluity.

Recent investment has given us the facilities to provide highly accurate prototypes that give a close representation and feel for the end product. This is always a useful time to stop and check that the project is headed in the right direction before it goes to final production.

Printing Services

The printing facilities that we have here at our North Devon plant are among some of the finest quality that you will come by. Our specialist equipment gives us the ability to print in a vast range of superior finishes and formats, machinery includes:

Infrared (IR) Driers – These allow us to print on coated materials for a vibrant, glossy finish. IR technology also speeds up the drying process, therefore significantly reducing production time and energy usage.

Spectrophotometer - This device allows for acute colour accuracy.

Our experienced graphic design team are at your disposal to create fresh designs or to re-work existing artwork. From design to prototype to production, we closely monitor all processes to ensure complete consistency.

Environmental responsibility is taken incredibly seriously across all of Atlas’s departments. The inks that we use for printing are all water based as opposed to solvent based, and waste is recycled through a water filtration system which separates the ink to form non-toxic by-products.

An exciting current development in our print department is the construction of a high-spec Print Lab, which will enable us to carry out our own technical testing within a fully equipped modern laboratory environment.
