RPC will showcase a number of award-winning packs at Packaging Innovations, underlining the company's ability to deliver pack solutions across a wide range of end markets including food and drink, cosmetics and personal care, pharmaceutical and healthcare, automotive, garden, DIY and surface coatings, and industrial and household chemicals.

Highlights include M&H's custom contact lens bottle for EM Pharma, which has been shortlisted for the Innovations Showcase at the exhibition, the WorldStar and Scanstar winning bespoke dessert pot from RPC Superfos, and the Slidissime Airless Cosmetic Jar from RPC Bramlage Barcelona, winner of a number of international awards including an Oscar de l'Emballage and which also took the prize in the Lion's Lair competition at last year's Packaging Innovations.

The M&H contact lens bottle provides a novel solution for those who wear contact lenses, incorporating a removable contact lens cleaning and storage case. The 200ml PET bottle features a raised, moulded profile that allows the case to be attached and removed with ease and helps reduce bathroom clutter within the home. As lens cases tend to be quite small, the potential to locate the case on the bottle helps users find all that is needed for this element of eye care, in one place.

RPC Superfos's dessert packing solution has been developed for Finnish dairy producer Valio Ltd's lactose free dessert Valio Eila® cream pudding with fruit sauce. The pack features a special release mechanism that makes it possible to serve the pudding and sauce on a plate within seconds.

The consumer simply removes the sealed foil, turns the pot upside down and squeezes the bottom a few times. This makes the pot break in three places, and as the air enters, the pudding and the fruit sauce gently come out.

Slidissime offers a prestige packaging solution for creams and lotions that combines sensuality with effective product protection. The airless jar comprises a collapsible pouch and an ergonomic flexible airless pump that ensure protection of active ingredients from oxidation, UV rays and other external contaminants during its entire usage. The system also allows decreased use of preservatives in product formulae. The tactile 'touch & slide' pump allows the cream to be released by a simple slide, which delivers a new touch sensation and an enhanced opening experience for the consumer, with the slide of the finger on the jar similar to the gesture of a caress, while the process delivers an accurate dose of product.

RPC introduces cup recycling initiative

RPC Tedeco-Gizeh, the UK’s sole manufacturer of plastic vending cups, is launching a unique initiative to help customers recycle their used cups into valuable second life products. The company is working with its sister business from the RPC Group, RPC bpi recycled products, so that vending suppliers and operators who collect their own used cups can deliver them to the RPC bpi facility in Dumfries. There they will be reprocessed and blended with other recycled polymers for use in the manufacture of RPC bpi’s market-leading Plaswood.

RPC celebrates apprentice success with focus on positivity

The RPC Group's Apprentice Academy in Oakham has been accepted onto the Government's Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers, enabling the facility to deliver nationally-recognised industry training. The announcement comes as the Academy marked its fourth anniversary with the awarding of certificates to celebrate the graduation of its first group of apprentices who embarked on their training following its official opening in December 2013.
