In February 2015, BillerudKorsnäs Pietarsaari mill successfully passed the certification process according to the Food Safety System Certification Standard (FSSC 22000).

The granted certificate shows the implementation of a Food Safety Management System and is associated with the requirements on good manufacturing practice. The certificate demonstrates that Pietarsaari mill has a robust Food Safety Management System in place that guarantees safe and hygienic production of packaging and kraft paper.

"Food safety certification will give the mill a competitive advantage. It meets the steadily increasing demands from customers, which entail aspects such as greater use of paper for food packaging.
