Child-resistant (CR) primary packaging is used to reduce the risk children accessing potentially hazardous products. Its usage significantly lowers the possibility of children ingesting and poisoning themselves with over-the-counter (OTC) medications, prescription products and other medicinal treatments which could be dangerous.

Specific examples of OTC products available which require CR packaging include:
