Crown highlights its new decorative finishes and smart packaging technology

Crown Aerosols & Promotional Packaging Europe, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown) (www.crowncork.com), will showcase solutions that help brands differentiate themselves on the shelf, foster greater consumer engagement, and harness the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) at the Aerosol & Dispensing Forum and Packaging of Perfumes Cosmetics & Design 2019 (ADF & PCD) in Paris, France. Between January 30 - 31, 2019, at Booth # P18, the Company’s team of experts will provide show attendees with insight into the latest industry trends and how metal packaging can support consumers’ needs for premiumization, quality and sustainability in the aerosols, luxury, cosmetics and promotional markets.

In its constant quest to offer brands out-of-the-box, eye-catching packaging solutions, Crown has been working on developing new printing decorations and finishes. The Company’s additions to its existing range of seven decorative finishes, include striking designs featuring Fine Sparkle finish, which features actual sparkling elements that make plain finishes twinkle in the light. Whether applied as an all over finish or spot applied, the varnish adds a premium look to packaging. Samples at the stand include a new and improved Pearlescent finish, a shimmering varnish that is ideal for applications from aerosols to spirits packaging and brings depth and sophistication to creative packaging designs. Crown will also showcase designs featuring Glitter and Glow in the Dark selective varnishes.

Following the successful launch of its groundbreaking CrownConnect™ technology earlier this year, the Company is looking to adapt it to other industries and applications. The solution, based on IoT and developed in partnership with EVRYTHNG, a GS1 solution provider, allows consumers to scan unique 2D codes on cans and learn about the provenance of the product and its journey to the retail shelf. The codes can also be used to engage consumers in promotional activities including online games and competitions, providing valuable purchasing data that can help marketers shape future marketing activities. CrownConnect™ is a solution designed to ensure great supply chain transparency and high efficiencies.

“We are thrilled to be exhibiting at ADF & PCD again. The show is a great opportunity for us to share our latest innovations and demonstrate how metal packaging can help brands stand out on the shelf and appeal to consumers not only for the aerosols market, but also for other limited edition or luxury premium products,” commented Veronique Curulla, Marketing Director at Crown Aerosols & Promotional Packaging Europe.

“In a competitive environment like the aerosols market, Crown has mastered the challenge of adding value in a cost-effective way. We excel in supply chain reliability, while our in-house design studio ensures that all products are manufactured to exact customer specifications before being printed and tested on the production line to validate efficient manufacturing.”

Many premium brands choose metal packaging for its sustainability credentials, which include being 100% and infinitely recyclable, which makes it an integral part of the circular economy. Through its continued investment in research and development, Crown strives to offer its regional and global customers packaging innovations that respond to their evolving needs and values that are not only environmentally friendly, but also user-friendly.
