Hispack 2024 closes with more than 26,000 attendees

The packaging industry is fully involved in the circular economy. This was confirmed at Hispack, Spain’s leading packaging trade fair, which closed today at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue with more than 26,000 visitors, 11% of them international. Sustainability has been the main protagonist in the innovations presented and in the activities of an edition that has helped manufacturers and brands from different sectors to adapt packaging and its associated production and logistics processes to the new regulatory framework.

In response to the expectations generated, Hispack has once again become the industry’s meeting point to showcase innovation in packaging and its positive impact on numerous user industries, on people as consumers, and on the planet. The trade show received 8% more visitors than at the last edition held in 2022, when it registered 24,287 attendees, not counting those who attended the printing industry show, Graphispag, which was held simultaneously. In its 19th edition, Hispack brought together a total of 819 exhibitors from 28 countries.

For four days, the Fira de Barcelona show was a showcase for trends and solutions in response to the requirements of legislative changes aimed at implementing the circular economy based on the reduction, recycling and reuse of materials, packaging and packing. In general terms, exhibitors were satisfied with the business contacts made, highlighting the quality of the visitors who attended the sectoral event and their interest in resolving specific challenges linked to the sustainability of both the packaging itself and the associated production technology.

Jordi Bernabeu, the president of Organising Committee of Hispack, gave a positive assessment of the trade fair “which has attracted visitors with decision-making power thanks to a powerful commercial offer representative of the entire packaging life cycle and a programme of activities that has promoted interaction and debate in the sector at a time of transformation such as the present”. Bernabeu also highlighted the objective of international growth, attracting visitors and buyers from markets of interest for the Spanish packaging industry’s exports.

Xavier Pascual, the director of Hispack, underlined “the generalist nature of the trade fair as one of its strong points when it comes to bringing together professionals from different industries, as well as its role in facilitating the permeability of innovation and cross-knowledge about packaging between various sectors”.

The Minister of Industry and Tourism of Spain, Jordi Hereu, visited Hispack  to see first-hand the sustainability innovations presented by exhibitors. Hereu highlighted “the magnificent thermometer of the industrial climate that the fair represents, because if the packaging industry is doing well, it means that other user industries are increasing their demand”.

The next edition of Hispack will take place from 4 to 7 May 2027.
