New tray helps manufacturers of ready-made meals lower plastic use significantly

Holmen Iggesund launches Inverform PET 30, a 30 gsm version of its popular ready-made meal trays. This unique product will help customers lower their climate impact substantially. Compared to the 40 gsm version, the reduction is more than 25%.

Holmen Iggesund & Yangi embark on collaboration to explore innovative sustainable packaging concepts for the cosmetic industry

Holmen Iggesund, a premium paperboard company for purposeful solutions, and Yangi®, the pioneers of dry forming technology, have entered into a long-term agreement to explore opportunities with a new type of sustainable packaging material. Under the agreement, the two companies will engage in close collaboration alongside brands, to further explore the opportunities of biobased and renewable packaging for the cosmetic and beauty industry.

The careful choice of material is the key to success of Carolina Herrera fragrance

When Vincenzo Leara of Gpack Group was asked to produce the packaging for the Carolina Herrera fragrance range Good Girl, he was asked to do a test. Test runs of the same packaging were done first with a well-reputed single-ply paperboard and then with the multi-ply Invercote from Iggesund Paperboard. When the results could be compared, the choice clearly fell on Invercote.

Silvery or golden surface for the HP 12000 series

When Iggesund Paperboard asked Print House in Oslo to do the certification testing of its new silvery metallised PET film-laminated paperboard, Metalprint Digital, the Swedish company also gained an exciting benchmark example of Metalprint Digital’s performance ability. The printers had simultaneously been asked to develop an exclusive packaging for the launch of Colgate’s gold toothbrush, the Gold 360⁰. From the sheets left over from the certification testing, the printers created a packaging for Colgate in the form of a gold bar – unusually, even before the paperboard was on the market.

Apple’s Tim Cook plants trees at Iggesund, acknowledges Holmen’s climate-smart efforts

When Apple CEO Tim Cook wanted to discover more about the sustainability work that lies behind the paperboard material Invercote, he visited the forest outside Iggesund in Sweden. The manufacturer, Iggesund Paperboard, is part of the Holmen forest industry group and is at the forefront of sustainability.

Two category wins for Iggesund

Cartons made of paperboard from Iggesund Paperboard won two of the categories at the Carton Excellence Awards 2017. They were given at the Pro Carton/Ecma congress in Vienna in late September. Iggesund products were used for the winners in categories “Beauty & Cosmetics” and the new category “Save the Planet”.

Iggesund Paperboard’s tradition of producing sophisticated Christmas cards continues. One says every single snowflake is unique and so will the Christmas card 2016 also be. This year Iggesund has created a snowflake that can be folded in many thousands of possible variations, from crystal white to winter blue colours.

A hundred-year perspective on sustainability

The brownish water and dead seabeds are gone. This year Iggesund Paperboard, manufacturer of the paperboards Invercote and Incada, can look back on a century’s unique performance record on sustainability. Iggesund Mill opened its first pulp mill in 1916, which was expanded to become an integrated pulp and paperboard mill in 1963.

Iggesund focuses on Japan

Iggesund Paperboard is expanding in the Asia Pacific region and will open a sales office in Japan from 1 September. Over the past year Iggesund has established a service centre with sheeting and warehousing in Taiwan to cut lead times in the region.

Iggesund Paperboard invests even more in service in the UK

Invercote and Incada, the quality paperboards from Iggesund Paperboard, have gained added distribution in the UK via a distribution agreement with the merchants Antalis and Elliott Baxter. Iggesund is now taking yet another step and introducing the warehousing and sheeting of Invercote at a distribution centre in the UK.

Of course the paperboard must be suitable for the construction we have chosen but if we do not minimise the risk of the chocolate acquiring an off-taste from the packaging material then the rest does not matter.”
