In order to launch its new hormonal substitution treatment in the United States, Azur Pharma, a laboratory of Irish origin, opted for a multi-dose airless pouch bottle for Elestrin Estradiol Gel 0.06 %, which was developed by Lablabo and based on the Easyfoil technology.
Made of a multilayer complex based on polyethylene and aluminum, this pouch ensures the maximum protection of the packaged product against oxygen and UV. Its cylindrical shape ensures high restitution rates - up to 98% of the packaged product is dispensed - and simple filling achievable on conventional lines. The pump (Sillage range) dispenses a precise and constant dose of 0.92 ml, a fundamental requirement for this type of actives. The commercial pack includes a cardboard case containing two airless dosing bottles, each one of 38 ml, to ensure one month of treatment.
For Jean-Philippe Taberlet, CEO of Lablabo, the reason why this laboratory opted for airless packaging is the dose accuracy and reproducibility as well as the possibility to adjust it according to customer's needs for a minimum cost.
