Mondi Group receives PPI Award for fire protection programme.
Mondi, the international packaging and paper Group, is pleased to announce that its Technical Department was the winner of the 2016 PPI (Pulp and Paper International) Award, in the category of ‘Resilience – Managing Risk’, at PPI’s Awards ceremony in Brussels recently.
The award recognised the excellence of Mondi’s Fire Protection Code (FPC) programme. Since 2013, Mondi’s Technical Department has overseen the implementation of 200 projects that aim to reduce or eliminate the risk of fire throughout the Group’s operations. As a result there have been significantly fewer reported fire events and a related reduction in asset losses. Mondi’s property and equipment are better protected and the Group also benefits from lower property insurance costs.
David Hathorn, CEO Mondi Group, commented, “Our Technical Department deserves to be recognised for their excellent work in support of our focus on minimising risk, and ensuring the safety of our people and property assets.”
Adnan Delic, Group Technical Risk Manager, said, “The success of our FPC programme has been a collaborative effort across Mondi, especially with our technical and operations directors. I’m pleased that we have improved our fire safety and that this award recognises the significant progress made.”
The PPI Awards are the only global awards dedicated to recognising the achievements of companies, mills and individuals in the pulp and paper sector. Nominees for the ‘Resilience – Managing Risk’ award were judged on the ability to design and implement effective strategies to minimise or eliminate property risk. Companies also had to demonstrate a solid safety record over a three-year period.
