King Size Airless Bottles

  • Sunrise Pumps

Airless packaging products seem to be everywhere these days, and it's no wonder - airless packaging is replete with benefits for both consumers and companies. Most, however, are quite small in capacity due to technical limitations related to filling and dispensing pressures.

Taiwanese firm Sunrise Pumps has released it's new AJ series of airless bottles with pumps that provide companies a "King Size" airless option.

Whereas many companies providing airless solutions top off at a 150ml capacity, the new bottles and pumps are available in sizes of 200ml, 250ml, and 300ml. The dispensed dose is also slightly larger, a perfect 0.65cc, rather than the standard 0.5cc squirt.

The straight, elegant look of the bottles and pumps is perceived by consumers positively, as is the simple dispensing method for the products contained within, even if they're of very high viscosity. The bottles are marketed as viable replacements for standard screw-top jars in a variety of markets, including masstige personal care items, food condiments, nutraceuticals, and more. The bottles and pumps require a simple pump action to dispense the product, rather than having to fiddle about with opening a lid and sticking one's hands into the product reservoir.

The product reservoir (up top) is vacuum-sealed with a plunger underneath the product inside the bottle. As the product is dispensed, air comes in from below under the plunger to equalize the pressure. The plunger moves up slightly and the bottle is ready to dispense its next dose. The whole operation actually quite interesting, and can be showcased using a transparent or translucent design.

Made of highly compatible and recyclable food-grade PP (which is a more eco-friendly material than many other forms of plastic), the bottles can't become contaminated as air or bacteria found on fingertips never come in contact with the product until it's dispensed. Further, following good design practices, the pumps feature an isolated spring mechanism that's outside the evacuation tube, meaning the metal of the spring can't rust and come into contact with the product, eliminating discolouring. Products enjoy a longer shelf life pre- and post-sale with no preservatives required.

The bottles offer a great alternative to clumsy cream jars, providing all the benefits of an airless container in a larger format.
