A metal closure is simply a dull component of packaging until it is decorated and personalized when it is then transformed into an effective marketing tool. Tecnocap offers two distinct ways to differentiate metal closures resulting in a one-of-a-kind, completely customized metal cap with engaging visual appeal.

Through its metal lithography facility in Warren, Ohio, Tecnocap has the ability to apply an endless variety of colours, as well as high quality graphics to metal closures from 15mm (just under 5/8") up to 120mm (4.72") in size.  Employing a Kodak approval system, paper labels on glass jars can be matched and replicated on the caps. Tecnocap can further enhance the cap with finely detailed embossing.

When creating a custom closure, Tecnocap works closely with the customer to ensure that there is approval at each stage of the process and that there is involvement in every step of production from providing original artwork through to receipt of the finished caps.

The process for creating a custom closure: colours & graphics

• Customer provides colour swatch, PMS number, art board, sample cap (or other acceptable artwork) to Tecnocap. Minimum sample size is 1x2".
• Four sets of proofs and colour separations are created from the samples and returned to customer.
• If necessary, written explanation of the desired changes is provided by the customer. New proofs and color separations are created to meet the desired appearance.
• Upon review and approval, the customer returns two signed sets of proofs and colour separations to Tecnocap.
• The proof and color separations are sent to have print plates made. Sheets of metal are printed. Printed sheets are made into the desired cap. (approx 6 weeks)

The process for creating a custom closure: embossing

• Customer provides art work by way of a graphics file, cap (or other acceptable presentation) to Tecnocap.
• The artwork is sized and a picture is created to represent the engraving. Embossment can be produced on every size of closure produced by Tecnocap, however the embossment size is limited to the diameter of the top of the capless 1/8" clearance from the edge of the cap.
• The customer reviews and approves the proposed embossment from the representative picture.
• Upon approval, embossment tooling is produced. (6-8 weeks)
• Upon receipt of embossment tooling, caps are produced. (4-6 weeks)
