Investing in academic training for the advancement of creativity in young talent, Virospack participates in the national awards for Packaging Design and Sustainability

The tenth edition of the National Design and Sustainability Awards came to a close on May 16th at an event held in Valencia, Spain, where the finalists and winner of the 2019 challenge were announced.

It was an emotional event full of surprises which welcomed students and teachers from more than 20 universities across Spain, leading companies in the packaging sector for food and household products, as well as specialists in sustainable economics and local public authorities.

The challenge was set by Virospack at the beginning of the year in an academic collaboration agreement signed with the “Cluster del Envase y Embalaje” to support packaging training and development. It was a demanding challenge whereby the students had to present a new dropper that brought innovation, emotion and sustainability all together.

A total of 14 'outstanding projects' were submitted, as expressed during the event by Rosa Porras, Marketing and Communication Manager at Virospack.

"I would like to thank and congratulate all of the students who have participated in the challenge we set. Spain is a country with a strong presence in the cosmetic packaging industry and the potential demonstrated by the students shows that we will continue to lead the industry for a long time", said Rosa Porras during her speech.

To which she also added: “Our objective was to develop a dropper that fulfilled the characteristic attributes of the company's products - functionality, precision, safety and quality - offering innovative design to brands which, at the same time, promote interaction with the consumer and, as an extra function of the dropper, respecting the environment.

The winners are to be congratulated for meeting these objectives."

The 2019 winners were Rubén Morata and María Ortiz from the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón for their "Freedom Dropper" project.

The Freedom Dropper is an innovative proposal for a functional, quality dropper, featuring a mirror function as an extra to interact with the consumer that incorporates a light sensor that alerts the user to the approaching expiration date. Furthermore the winning design is reusable, thus generating less waste.

The winning project, along with the 2 finalist projects have now been submitted as candidates for the Liderpack Awards, the most important awards in Spain for packaging and POS. Congratulations!
