Viva Partners with Mark Hill Hair to Boost Recyclability

  • VIVA

Viva Packaging partnered with Mark Hill Hair to help the brand adopt a sustainable approach to its packaging. Viva developed the tubes for Mark Hill's new line of hair care products: a mono-material pack, designed to be easily recycled after use, made with PP injection moulding and IML for decoration with 70% post-consumer recycled plastic in the tubes sleeves and shoulders.

Traditional packaging often combines multiple materials, making it challenging to separate and recycle effectively. By using a single material for the tube, cap and label, Viva ensures that the entire product can be processed in the same recycling stream, increasing the likelihood that it will be recycled rather than ending up in landfills. Additionally, mono-material packaging reduces the complexity and cost of waste management systems, aligning with the growing consumer and regulatory demand for more sustainable and circular packaging solutions.

Further reducing Mark Hill Hair's carbon footprint, Viva used PCR to reduce the reliance on virgin plastic materials. PCR plastics are derived from products that have already been used and recycled by consumers, effectively closing the loop in the lifecycle of plastic materials. Incorporating 70% PCR content into the tubes’ sleeves and shoulders not only diverts waste from landfills but also reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions associated with producing new plastic.
