The upgrade will be done with the latest technology, ensuring a consistent quality of the products throughout the whole production run. The upgrade includes e.g. new drives and control system for the PRS106 line as well as renewal of some of the unwinding stations on PRS109 and PRS106.

“This safeguards a high quality on our products, something our customers are expecting from Walki Pietarsaari”, says Plant Director Sune Kapténs.

The upgrade is also a step towards working for higher output.

“With this investment our capacity will be further improved and we can respond swiftly to our customers' demands," says Peter Martin, Production Manager.

The Pietarsaari plant is where Walki runs materials for industrial packaging as well as corrugated and solid board companies that are manufacturing food packages. The demand for these types of products is expected to remain stable.

“Walki Pietarsaari is a strategically important site for the Walki Group and we are pleased to be even better prepared to provide capacity according to our customers' demands”, says Kapténs.

“This investment provide a great boost to our staff and also improves safety, a central aspect of Walki’s key targets”, says Peter Martin.
