In 1969, two Japanese companies,
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation and Oji Paper Co. Ltd., had a shared vision of generating and producing paper entirely out of synthetic raw materials. Using
synthetic polymers, they developed papers which are unparalleled for their
combination of superior functionality and unique aesthetic appeal.

Nowadays the joint-venture business which arose from this idea – the YUPO^® Corporation – ranks among the global market leaders with a product range of more than 50 synthetic papers and annual production capacity of more than 40.000 tonnes.

At YUPO®, taking responsibility means more than just meeting minimum requirements, we go beyond this: the extensive environmental management system in place at the YUPO® Corporation is certified under ISO 14.001.

Our products

• are 100% tree free, and so they preserve forests, water and natural resources.
• are made using eco-friendly manufacturing processes.
• require relatively little water, energy and chemicals to manufacture.

Help us to fulfil the objectives we are working to achieve: YUPO® synthetic papers are not biodegradable, but they are 100% recyclable under Germany's dual system for recycling. We will gladly answer any further questions you may have in this regard.
